WelcomeFor in fact the body is not one member but many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased (1 Corinthians 12:14-18).
Getting Along in Life? as Christians!
Our Sunday morning Bible study is from the letter to the Ephesians and as we near chapter four, there is advice from the Apostle Paul for them to handle their relationships with one another in the proper manner. If we are in any type? of a relationship, family, friend, business, or church, differenccs can certainly arise. So how do we handle ourselves and the situations that arise?? Paul instructs them and us in Ephesians 4:25-32. Look af this great advice: Verse 25: Therefore, Iaying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one onother. Iet the truth be our standard.
Falsehood and dishonesty are weapons of Satan who thrives on tearing people apart. How does Paul say to defuse it? Always "speak the truth" about every situation. Speak with, not to our neighbor in a give and take discussion. Then in 26: Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go dawn on your anger. When speeking the truth with one another, we must stay in control. Anger is not always wrong but it is when it controls us. Paul said don't dwell on the disagreement that can leave us angry or it may fester. Why? [27] and do not glve the devil an opportunity. The longer we give Satan time to work, the more damage he can do.
If we first identify Satan's devices such as anger, we? can prevent him frorn using them. Being able to see that it is Satan who is driving the wedge between us, then we will be able to deal with it. [28] He who steals must seal no longer; but rather he must labor, perforning with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need. [29] Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as ts good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. We are not to continue in doing destructive things, because this would make us a part of the problem. But instead speak positive words that will build up. Use words that will help, not harm; that will heal, not hurt. Stay optimistic and express your optimism. [30] Do not grlieve the Holy Spirit of God whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Remember God's will, as found in the Spirit inspired Word of God and glorify Him by honoring His words. [31] Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. [32] Be kind to one another, tender-hearted forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
Paul said it is time for our attitudes to be adjusted do not get your ire up but instead get your love up in its place. Once again it is what is in the heart that counts. We have to make sure we are acting out of a pure heart. That may mean getting rid of some preconceived ideas. We need to just make sure it ends in kindness and forgiveness
God bless,
Dave Howard

NOTES ON THE HISTORY OF THE CHURCH OF CHRIST HOPKINSVILLE, KY
The Christian Church of Hopkinsville when organized and for many years thereafter, worshipped in the same way as the Church of Christ does today and in the same way that was taught by Alexander Campbell and many others in the days of the reformation. The difference between the Christian church and the Church of Christ came when the Christian Church adopted the sectarian practices of having various aid societies and in the use of instrumental music in the worship.
These things caused a rift in the Christian Church between the ones who wished to worship as taught by the Scriptures and as set forth by Alexander Campbell and many of the Reformers, (that we will speak where the Bible speaks and keep silent where the Bible is silent). This idea was the basic principe upon which the Christian Church was founded and follows the teaching of the Apostles as set forth in the New Testament.
The teachings of the Apostles imbued with the Holy Spirit caused people to be saved in their day and the Church of Christ claims that the same Gospel if taught and practices today will bring about the same results, but there must not be either additions or substractions or deviations from the Apostles teaching.
These deviations are the cause of most religious devisions today and they were the cause of the rift which split the Christian Church in Hopkinsville and elsewhere
When a member of faithful believers left the Christian Church in Hopkinsville about the 1893, they met to worship in the home of Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Hille on Jessup Avenie and continued to neet there until they could erect a house of worship, which they did in 1897.
